The next generation of Citroën Relay vans has been revealed, with the new commercial vehicles boasting a huge number of standout features.

Fans of the series will notice many alterations to the new Relay van when compared to its predecessor. For one, the exterior of the commercial vehicle catches the eye thanks to the addition of large, high-mounted headlights, a prominent front grille and a chevron design.

Inside the reimagined Citroën Relay, one of the most appealing features is that the van’s cabin has been designed with the driver’s and passenger’s comfort in mind. Those behind the wheel can enjoy the sophistication of the dashboard layout, for example, while the crew are sure to feel relaxed sat on a dual passenger seat that comes incorporated with a drop-down desk unit.

Electric windows, door mirrors that are electrically operated and heated, as well as DAB radio all also come as standard on the next-generation Relay van.

Getting from A to B with the new Citroën Relay should be a joyful green occasion too, seeing as the van’s entry-level HDi 110 engine is capable of achieving a fuel economy figure of 41.5mpg — this increases to 42.8mpg for drivers who opt for an e-HDi 130 engine with Stop & Start functionality.

Those who need to carry goods inside their commercial vehicle on a regular basis will also be pleased to hear that the next-generation Relay can boast a payload from 1140kg to a magnificent 1995kg.

Jeremy Smith, the Head of Commercial Vehicles & Business Sector Operations at Citroën, summarised the appeal of the French manufacturer’s new van by stating: “When it goes on sale in the third quarter this year, the new Relay will build upon the success of its predecessor which, even at the end of its production life, is still delivering high UK sales volumes.

“We expect the wide choice of new Relay variants — all offering class-leading load carrying practicality and low cost of operation, coupled with even higher standards of equipment — will increase its popularity with both national fleets and small and medium enterprise (SME) businesses.”

Van drivers can register their interest in the new Citroën Relay here. However, anyone hoping to acquire an impressive fresh set of wheels for the summer months should take heed of Mr Smith’s mention of the current Relay van still being popular across the UK.

What’s more, these vehicles can be purchased at very affordable prices right now from such used commercial vehicle retailers as Van Monster. This includes a selection of 13 reg vehicles that barely have any miles on the clock or second hand vans.

In non-anglophone countries, Relay is badged as Jumper.  Click here for more details of this vehicle.
