Since there was such a multiplicity of ID models, the following table attempts to identify the principal technical characteristics.
The ID range employed much the same range of engines as the DS, initially with lower power output.
Transmissions were always manual, 4 speed at first but 5 speeds were offered later.
Similarly, steering was originally unassisted but power steering became an option and eventually standard on some models.
Again, braking was originally unassisted but later, a simplified version of the DS fully powered system was fitted.
Technical improvements were introduced more or less in line with those of the DS.
