But it is not just any cabriolet. The protective yet open styling gives this cabriolet a look that is unlike any other on the market, clearly identifying the personality of the C3 Pluriel.

The presence of the arches, together with the high windscreen pillar and waist line, make the C3 Pluriel a highly protective vehicle that is both enjoyable and reassuring to drive.

No cabriolet to date has offered this degree of protection. It should serve to make the general public less reticent about this type of vehicle, and so to boost sales of the C3 Pluriel.

The open interior conveys an immediate impression of freedom: the arches running the length of the body do not disrupt the field of vision at either front or rear.

Convenient and practical

In this configuration, the volume of the rear compartment (around 137 litres) can be increased by folding down the rear backrests.

This compartment can also be closed using a removable boot lid, delivered as standard. Designed to protect the contents of the boot from prying eyes, the lid can be placed in the bottom of the boot when the top is up.

Taking the concept of modular design even further, the C3 Pluriel features removable arches.

The last stage in modular design

This feature is a true world first. To make it possible, Citroën developed new technical solutions to meet the challenge of design.

Even if this operation is performed only occasionally, it takes one person just a few seconds to turn the C3 Pluriel into a 4-seater Spider. No tooling is needed.

The user simply unlocks the arches at front and rear to disconnect them from the structure.

Made of aluminium alloys that are both light and resistant, each arch weighs around 11.5 kg and is therefore easy to handle.

This function, the last in the modular adaptation of the bodywork, reveals the C3 Pluriel in yet another new and unexpected guise.

The personality of the C3 Pluriel Spider gives rise to a host of emotions. Symbolising the dream car, it conveys the promise of exclusive

and shared motoring pleasure. It is an invitation for four people to experience open-air driving sensations.

An interior design scheme that is both original and attractive

Reflecting the same attention to detail as the exterior styling, the unique onboard environment expresses the personality of the car.

Inspired by the concepts of leisure and open-air pursuits, the interior styling creates strong visual links between the vehicle interior and exterior. The fluid, friendly lines of the passenger compartment flow from front to rear.

The dashboard, shared with the C3 saloon, features aluminium-coloured air vents and a steering wheel hoop of exclusive design.

The interior features the same colour as the bodywork: colour insets with fluid lines adorn the trim panels and even the backs of the front seats (with the Techno pack).

Linking the front and the rear of the passenger compartment, a wishbone (arm rest and grab handles) runs along the inner panels of the doors, bringing to mind the world of water sports.

A body style of pure lines

The design of the C3 Pluriel Spider highlights the purity of its styling lines and adds a cheerful, lively facet to its personality.

The unusual waist line is emphasised once more. The only feature higher than the waist line is the vast windscreen which – alongside the roll bars built into the rear headrests – protects the occupants at both front and rear.

C3 Pluriel Spider Pick-up:
modular design with panache

The C3 Pluriel Spider brings users a level of practical convenience never before seen on a convertible.

The rear compartment features an opening mechanism that is both practical and original.

The tailgate opens downwards, creating a wide space for placing heavy objects and sliding them forwards on the flat floor. Designed for weights of up to 100 kg, it can even provide a convenient place for sitting down and undoing shoelaces, for example.

The C3 Pluriel Spider is even more modular in design, since the backrests can be folded down instantly and independently, thanks to the seat-integrated belts. This frees up a flat surface running from the tailgate to the backs of the front seats (175 cm in length).

In this way, the C3 Pluriel Spider turns instantly into a “Spider Pick-up”.

This pick-up function is available whatever the configuration of the vehicle. A first on the market, even on the saloon segment, this function was designed for the many everyday situations in which we all wish we had a car with a rear compartment that was bigger, more open or simply more welcoming.

The SensoDrive gearbox as standard.

The C3 Pluriel is a strong, innovative concept that demands a high-tech content of corresponding excellence. Citroën is therefore fitting the

SensoDrive gearbox as standard on versions equipped with the 1.6i 16V engine.

Already available on the C3 saloon, this new 5-speed gearbox offers superlative driving pleasure.

It gives the driver a choice between manual mode and “auto-adaptive” automatic mode in gear-chang-ing, depending on requirements and traffic conditions.

The driver switches easily and naturally from one operating mode to the other.

In manual mode, the driver uses the controls behind the wheel, or the push-control lever to change gears. This lever is also used to select neutral and reverse.

The SensoDrive gearbox places the emphasis on driving pleasure.

It does away with manual clutching and declutching operations. With the fast response time of the SensoDrive (a few tenths of a second), the lively performance of the 1.6i 16V engine and the controls placed under the wheel, the driver is able to adopt a sporty driving style, while keeping both hands on the wheel. This system optimises gear change management to control fuel consumption more effectively than with a conventional manual gearbox.

The SensoDrive is one of the systems developed in response to demand for functional driving aids. It brings significant progress in ergonomics, while reducing the factors of fatigue, stressful urban driving and fuel consumption.
