Citroën C2 at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2003

At the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2003, Citroën is showing several new variants of its new baby, the C2.

CITROËN C2

DRIVEABILITY ON OPEN ROADS AND CITY STREETS

Citroën launches the C2 on 12 September 2003. With the C2, Citroën extends its vehicle range while also meeting the requirements frequently expressed by buyers of compact 3-door vehicles.
The C2 is an eye-catching car with real character. Looking beyond styling, it heralds an innovative concept in modular interior design and boot access.
The C2 has all the qualities of the C3: road holding, safety and a generous array of equipment.
The C2 is 3.66 m long, 1.66 m wide and 1.46 m tall. Its size places it squarely in the middle of the compact 3-door segment. The C2 is not just an excellent tourer, it is also very much a city car, with its modular passenger compartment and four real seats.

A TRUE TOURER

At launch, the C2 will offer a choice of four power plants: three petrol engines – 1.1i, 1.4i and 1.6i 16V – developing between 61 bhp and 110 bhp, and a 1.4 HDi diesel engine developing 70 bhp.
Citroën is also bringing the advanced technology SensoDrive into wider use. This automated gearbox with steering wheel controls is already very much appreciated on the C3 and C3 Pluriel. On the C2, SensoDrive will be available not only with the 1.6i 16V engine, but also with the 1.4i engine.
The running gear, which is based on that of the C3, has been adapted to the specific characteristics of the C2 in order to enhance driving pleasure in total safety. A car that sits squarely on its wheels, the C2 can be fitted with tyres of up to 16-inches in size.
The C2 features a range of equipment normally reserved for segments further up the market, such as variable electric power steering, automatic illumination of headlamps and cruise control. These functions identify the C2 as a car designed for stress-free travel.

A TALENTED CITY CAR

A compact car with a practical and original tailgate and a wide range of equipment including a reversing radar and folding power rearview mirrors, the C2 is at ease both in the city and on the open road.

OUTSTANDING PROTECTION FOR THE OCCUPANTS

In terms of safety, the C2 is a front-runner in its segment with ESP, ABS, emergency braking assistance and six front and side airbags.

STYLE AND CHARACTER

The C2 is a car that brings dynamic performance to mind with its striking style and strong personality. Its design lines play on visual appeal and on the break created by the recessed side windows. Inside the car, the bright colour schemes and translucent trim underline the emphasis placed on modern design.

A NEW CONCEPT IN MODULAR DESIGN

The C2 boasts a unique concept in modular design. Two sliding, independent rear seats, designed to fold down easily, let the user modify the vehicle interior to cope with all sorts of everyday situations.
The cleverly designed tailgate opens in two sections, so that the boot can be accessed in all circumstances even when limited space is available, as is frequently the case in the city.
