| Citroën researched the marketplace for a GS Coupé and a number of prototypes were built, by the Bureau d'Etudes and by coachbuilders - the best known of which was Bertone's Camargue (the name was sold to Rolls Royce for an undisclosed sum) which was presented at the 1972 Geneva Motor Show. | |

Left Heuliez proposed this 3 door coupé which preserved the profile of the production saloon. Compared with the saloon where the boot lid extended to the rear bumper, this particular car featured a very high and therefore somewhat impractical rear panel, thereby defeating any practicality of a hatchback.
