Notes from the vendor,
Richard Bonfond
When this vehicle was new and imported by Citroën Cars
Corporation’s west coast headquarters in Los Angeles it first became a
company car for Mr. Albert Bonfond (my father) who was the western USA
Technical Manager for Citroën in the USA.
After being driven some time by my father, the vehicle
was sold as a demonstrator to a Citroën employee in 1970 by the name of
Desi Hensen who was my father's brother in law. Mr. Hensen, kept the
car until 1986 when I purchased the vehicle for my wife upon our return
to the US after residing abroad for several years.
My wife drove the car until around 1992 when we parked
it as the car was starting to show its age both cosmetically and
technically and I decided to start restoring the vehicle. Due to
financial constraints at the time I stopped working on the car and it
sat in the garage for approximately 10 years, and it wasn’t until
around 2005 that I really started getting serious and spending time on
resurrecting the vehicle. From that point I spent regular time working
on the DS and it was completed in early 2011.
The DS has an original 133,094 miles at the time of this
writing and 2,145 since the restoration was completed.
