Citroën C-Crosser

* Joint development for strong identity
The C-Crosser was co-developed by PSA Peugeot Citroën and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, whose joint project was to build an SUV for the European market. The Mizushima plant in Japan will manufacture 15,000 C-Crossers a year for the Citroën brand. The PSA Peugeot Citroën-designed HDi diesel engine is produced at Trémery in France.
This cooperation agreement has enabled Citroën to broaden its product line of 10 saloons, 4 MPVs and one van-based MPV with an SUV that fulfils all the Marque's requirements.
The technicians at Citroën used all their expertise in developing and adapting this vehicle for the European market, striking a perfect balance between ride comfort and roadholding and exceptional driving pleasure.
Citroën Styling Center also gave the C-Crosser a unique body design, yet one that is in complete harmony with the rest of the range and clearly expresses its Citroën DNA.

EFFICIENCY AND COMFORT FOR DRIVING PLEASURE
The C-Crosser has a wealth of qualities that make it a real pleasure to drive. Its DPFS-fitted HDi diesel engine develops generous torque, while its precise and responsive behaviour out on the road comes hand in hand with all of Citroën's renowned comfort. Drivers can choose between settings with the multi-mode four-wheel drive transmission, switching from nimble manoeuvrability in the city to surefooted roadholding on winding roads. Meanwhile, passengers enjoy complete peace of mind with the C-Crosser's exceptionally high level of safety equipment.

* High-performance diesel engine that respects the environment
The C-Crosser stands apart from its rivals with the verve of its HDi diesel engine, developing 160 bhp DIN (156 bhp EEC at 4,000 rpm) and equipped with a particulate filter.
Based on the 173 bhp HDi DPFS engine on the C5 and C6, the 160 bhp HDi unit has a variable-geometry single turbo designed to give plenty of torque at low engine speeds (380 Nm at 2,000 rpm). And drivers can get all they need out of the 2.2-litre engine thanks to a six-speed manual gearbox.
To limit pollution, the engine is fitted with a latest-generation particulate filter (DPFS). Given the C-Crosser's performance and torque, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are reasonably low for a vehicle of this size (7.2 l/100 km and 191 g/km with 16-inch wheels, 7.3 l/100 km and 194 g/km with 18-inch wheels).
The engine is supported by hydraulic shims and fitted with two balancer shafts to reduce vibrations and enhance passenger comfort. Citroën engineers also ensured relaxing cabin silence by thoroughly soundproofing the engine compartment.

* Impeccable roadholding

True to Citroën values, the C-Crosser strikes an excellent balance between comfort and performance out on the road. The Marque honed and refined the steering, running gear and suspension of the original vehicle to guarantee top-flight driving sensations and impeccable roadholding.
The C-Crosser's tyres and decreasing-flow pump, along with a tunnel reinforcer that increases stiffness, give drivers excellent steering feedback. These improvements provide the C-Crosser with precise and easy-to-use power steering combining efficiency and pleasure.
In terms of running gear, the C-Crosser has MacPherson-type suspension with a 22 mm anti-roll bar at the front and multi-link axles with a 20 mm anti-roll bar at the back. This set-up boosts on-road stability and active safety. The rear shock absorbers have been uncoupled from the springs, and Citroën chose a calibration that gives the car excellent roadholding combined with sharp driving sensations and outstanding comfort.
This achievement is further enhanced by 18-inch wheels fitted with special 225/55 R18-sized Michelin tyres for Exclusive trim models (or country equivalent). For Pack trim level (or country equivalent), the C-Crosser ships with 16-inch wheels and Michelin's 215/70 R16 tyres.
Lastly, the C-Crosser has an aluminium roof that lowers the centre of gravity for even better roadholding.

* First-class brakes

The C-Crosser's brakes were extensively developed to give them segment-leading bite, efficiency and pedal pressure control.
Citroën engineers achieved this by using double-piston callipers at the front, combined with ventilated discs 294 mm in diameter and 24 mm thick, while the rear discs measure 302 mm in diameter. The system is rounded out by ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution.
