C4 PICASSO A used car buyer's guide

As families grow larger, the need to change cars to get a roomier, child-friendly offering becomes more important. Despite the fact that the Citroën C3 and the regular C4 are still quite large, the best offering on the market from the leading French carmaker is the Citroën C4 Picasso. Working as an unofficial replacement to the Xsara Picasso - which is now beginning to show its age - choosing the Citroën C4 Picasso from the wide range of used cars from Evans Halshaw is easy, given that it is perfectly adaptable to what you want. With two compact MPVs in this range available - a five-seater and seven-seater - many great features could make it the perfect choice for any family, whether new or long-established.
Built with everyone in mind, the C4 Picasso is proud of its safety. In fact, Citroën was awarded five stars in its Euro NCAP test, while people buying higher-spec used versions of this run-around will also have the excellent Lane Departure System, which alerts a driver of any drifting from one lane to another.
C4 Picassos are also fitted with an enormous windscreen - perhaps one of the biggest available on the used car market - which stretches back into the roof area and beyond the back of the drivers head, giving an excellent view of everything. This complements the family-friendly interior, which uses sleek styling to deliver a remarkable number of storage options while also being particularly spacious. On top of this, the boot size is huge: 500 litres of space with the rear seats up, while lowering them practically turns the Picasso into a small van.
There are a few engine options, though a used car buyer may find it hard to turn down the offer of the 1.6HDi 155bhp, which has an impressive output of 54mpg while still getting from 0 to 62mph in 9.4 seconds. Other engine options available include the 1.6 VTi and 1.6 THP petrol engines, as well as the 1.6 and 2.0HDi diesel engines.
When approaching the used car market for the Citroën C4 Picasso, there are a range of trim levels. Post-2007 models have three available trims: the VTR, VTR+ and Exclusive. Nonetheless, the standard equipment is excellent without these bonuses. Whatever you choose, simply picking the C4 Picasso is a no-brainer for families and bigger groups - this super-versatile family-friendly MPV is an excellent offering.
